About

Monastic life is about living ethically—refraining from harm and helping others. It involves living simply, as the Buddha did, and practicing in community to strengthen compassion and wisdom. This includes promoting loving-kindness, compassion, and peace by expounding teachings of the Buddha (the Dharma). It also involves fostering virtue, supporting the practice of meditation as a means to attain wisdom, and reaching out to the community in service.
